Thanks again to all residents who participated in our Human Flourishing Survey this spring! Approximately 240 current and future residents completed the survey, which was conducted in February/March in partnership with the Frost Center for Social Science at Hope College.
As construction continues on our West End expansion, we felt it was an ideal time to ask you how things are going. Your answers will shape our future programs and services, supporting our long-term planning efforts to ensure they meet your needs.
We decided to partner with the Frost Center because of its stellar reputation as an interdisciplinary research center. It is well respected for its original research and partnership with community collaborators on purposeful research projects, such as this one, that promote meaning and flourishing.
Survey results will give us a meaningful baseline of wellbeing – the sum of our physical, social, emotional and mental states that enable us to live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. To do so, we asked questions on five key areas:
- Overall wellness and health
- Purpose and meaning
- Social connection and community
- Resilience and life satisfaction
- Perceptions of Beacon Hill’s services and environment
Researchers are reviewing, validating and compiling all the data to provide us with meaningful guidance. The findings will inform future programming, wellness initiatives, service enhancements, campus planning and design decisions.
The Frost Center for Social Science is completing its analysis, with results anticipated this summer. After reviewing the findings, we look forward to sharing them with you. We’re deeply appreciative of all who took the time to share their thoughts with us so we can strengthen our commitment to creating a community where all can truly flourish.
