WEST END CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS UPDATES
The next phase of Beacon Hill is underway, and we are glad to share the journey with you. Led by Rockford Construction, work on the site is actively progressing. This page will feature ongoing updates, photos, and project highlights to help you stay connected as progress continues.
THE LATEST UPDATES
September 25th, 2026
Construction continues to progress across the West End expansion, with activity underway across multiple areas of the project. Building D is advancing on several fronts, with crews completing the walls of Stairwell 1 in coordination with Rockford Interiors. MEP rough-in and installation of P-Tac sleeves are ongoing, while the roof hatch is being installed this week and TPO work on the canopies is planned for next week. Crews are also finishing the NTX coating on the gable walls, installing remaining windows and doors, and continuing blocking and bulkhead framing. Standing seam installation is complete. In the model unit, insulation is scheduled for September 28, followed by drywall installation on October 5, pending inspections.
In Building C, crews are erecting Level 4 and 5 walls and preparing plywood joints for the NTX coating. Work will also continue on Stairwell 2, along with connector steel and detailing.
Work is beginning to ramp up in Building B, where framing will begin alongside waterproofing and backfill work on the south side of the building. In Building A, crews will complete PT pour #3 and stress the tendons, while work on Elevator #3 will also begin.
In Building F, the dumpster enclosure stone veneer is complete, and crews will set Sequence 1 decking, detail Stair 2, and install the Grand Stair stringers. Additional work includes SOG at the riser room, core stacks following wall layout, and backfilling a small foundation area south of Stair 2. Fireproofing will continue on Levels 1 and 2, while wall layout and clips will progress on Levels 2 and 3 and Level 1 wall framing gets underway.
Around Building G, crews will set Level 1 wall panels and begin work on the Level 2 Hambro system.
August 14th, 2026
Work continues to move forward, with customization walls being added and electrical being laid out on both floors. Electrical work on the third floor is scheduled to begin next week, while plumbing rough-in has also started. Asphalt shingle installation began August 11, with flanged window installation scheduled to begin August 17. The team will also be installing the ice and water shield on the roof.
Level 3 wall installation is underway, while Level 4 floor trusses began arriving August 10, with three loads scheduled for delivery. Work also continues on the second stairwell pour.
Work on the post-tensioning (PT) tendons and rebar began the week of August 3, with the first PT pour completed on August 13.
The slab-on-grade at the garage door was completed August 12, and PT shoring is now underway.
Decking and detailing continue, with approximately a week and a half of detailing remaining. Nelson studs are scheduled to be installed August 26, while pad footings for the Level 2 slab-on-grade are planned for the week of August 17. Excel will also be laying out mechanical sleeves and penetrations, followed by plumbing and electrical work through the core.
Backfill and shoring removal at the east retaining wall began August 10, with the east retaining wall expected to be ready for backfill by the end of the week. Underground rough-in work is planned following backfill next week. The team will also be pouring Stair 6 and 7 pans, with the second slab-on-grade pour scheduled for the week of August 24. Anchor bolt setting and footing repairs near Skilled Nursing and the connector are also underway.
July 24th, 2026
Construction continues to progress across the West End expansion, with activity underway in multiple areas of the project. Building D is nearing completion of its roof sheathing, with crews also sheathing the interior gable truss area in preparation for insulation. Electrical layout work is underway, plumbing rough-in has begun, parapet wall insulation is scheduled for July 23, and installation of the Thermline fascia and valley will begin July 29.
In Building C, crews are installing the third-floor trusses while forming Stairwell 2 between Buildings C and F at Level 3, with a concrete pour anticipated on July 24. The slab on grade between Buildings B and C was also poured on July 22.
Work continues to advance in Buildings A and B as well. In Building B, post-tension (PT) shoring is expected to be completed by July 24, PT sleeve layout began July 21, and installation of PT tendons and rebar is scheduled to begin the week of July 27. In Building A, the second slab-on-grade pour is planned for July 27 following final grading, which is taking place the week of July 20. Crews will also install the car wash drain after final grading, with PT shoring beginning the week of July 30 after the concrete has cured.
In Building F, crews are completing stair hold-downs, detailing and decking work, placing upper footings for areas D200 through D500, relocating the fire alarm to the finished nursing side, and reconnecting the water main. Meanwhile, work around Building G includes excavating retaining wall footings, constructing the retaining wall east of the building, preparing to pour the stair pans for Stairs 6 and 7 following the steel inspection, and addressing remaining stair items identified in the steel inspection report by the end of the week.
July 10th, 2026
Construction activity will continue across several buildings over the next two weeks as crews make significant progress on structural work, concrete installation, and site preparation.
Building D will see roof trusses installed, followed by roof sheathing as work continues to take shape overhead.
At Building C, crews will complete concrete backfilling of the buttress walls between Buildings C and D, pour the second-level walls, install the third-floor trusses, and begin forming the second stairwell above the post-tension deck between Buildings C and F.
Work at Building B will focus on pouring the concrete slab while post-tension (PT) shoring begins. Crews will also start laying out PT sleeves, tendons, and reinforcing steel in preparation for the next phase of construction.
At Building A, concrete placement for the slab-on-grade will begin. Additional work includes installing post-tension shoring, starting underground plumbing, and completing backfilling and final grading around the building.
Building F will see the first structural steel installation, along with foundation wall pours on the building’s south side.
Construction at Building G will include excavating retaining wall footings, pouring the retaining wall on the east side of the building, and pouring Stair 6 and metal pans following the required steel inspection.
Overall, these activities represent another exciting step forward as the new neighborhood continues to take shape. We appreciate your patience and look forward to sharing more progress in the coming weeks.
June 19th, 2026
This week, the team continues on the same current projects. In addition to that, major work on a retaining wall will occur from Monday through Wednesday along the A wing drive. It’s possible that residents may feel minor vibrations.
In Building D, crews have been making significant progress on the structure. Wall panels are currently being installed on the second level, while third-floor trusses were set this week. Work on the third-level walls is scheduled to begin shortly, and layout work for the structures on the west side of the building has also been completed.
In Building C, teams are finishing wall construction near the ramp area and continuing work on Elevator #1. Additional work includes backfilling around Elevator #2 and preparing structural connections that will support upcoming concrete pours. Looking ahead, second-floor wall panels are expected to arrive later this month, and a second framing crew is scheduled to begin wall construction in late June to help accelerate progress.
In Building B, site preparation remains underway. Crews are completing footings, foundation walls, and structural columns while also beginning underground utility work throughout the building area. A slab-on-grade concrete pour is planned for the week of June 15, marking another important milestone in the construction process.
Work is also advancing in Buildings F and G, where excavation and concrete work for hold-down footings continues. Shoring installation is scheduled for the week of June 15, along with the second slab-on-grade concrete pour in Building F.

BUILDING THE WEST END: BY THE NUMBERS
The West End expansion is a major milestone for Beacon Hill, and the scale of the work happening behind the scenes is impressive. Here are a few interesting facts about the project currently underway:
The West End project spans approximately 7.5 acres — about the size of nearly six football fields.
Site preparation includes moving about 30,000 cubic yards of excavated earth and placing 20,000 cubic yards of fill — enough soil to fill roughly 3,000 large dump trucks.
At peak construction activity, approximately 160–190 construction workers will be on site each day — about the size of four full tour buses of people working on the project.
The project will incorporate roughly 240 tons of structural steel — weighing about the same as 40 adult elephants.
DID YOU KNOW?
Beneath parts of the West End construction site are three underground stormwater detention systems designed to manage rainwater and support proper site drainage. These systems can store a combined 427,300 gallons of stormwater within 67,806 cubic feet of underground storage. To put that into perspective, that’s roughly the equivalent of more than 8,500 household bathtubs of water.

Frequently Asked Questions
The West End project is the next phase of Beacon Hill’s campus expansion, including the addition of new living spaces, building state-of-the-art Assisted Living, enhanced amenities, and improved outdoor areas designed to better serve current and future residents.
Construction is planned to take place from now to mid 2028. Timelines may shift slightly due to weather or site conditions.
We update this page whenever new information becomes available—typically weekly or bi-weekly. Drone footage, progress notes, and project documents will be added as they are released.
For safety reasons, the active construction zone is closed to all non-construction personnel. However, you can follow along through drone images and progress updates posted here.
Some temporary disruptions, such as increased truck traffic, noise, or adjusted walking routes, are possible. We are actively working to keep noise levels and disruptions to a minimum for both the campus and surrounding neighborhood. When impacts are expected, they will be noted in updates so residents and families can plan accordingly.
