Exploring all that Beacon Hill has to offer

At long last, the seasons are changing. It seems with every new year, winter’s grip seems tighter and tighter, unwilling to relinquish control over to its popular counterparts Spring and Summer. Late frosts and, even worse, snowfalls threaten the budding, new crops, and, at times, or sanity. However, the fierceness of winter always makes the crisp spring and warming summer, sweeter and more joyful. I look forward to these seasons, after a long winter, as I would a dear friend that I have not seen for quite some time. I find myself pulling back the curtains and looking out through my windows, peering off in the distance, eagerly anticipating their arrival. Every year Spring and Summer seem to arrive later and later, but then again, right on time.

These warmer months bring such excitement around Beacon Hill. The menus are changing across the campus. Transitioning away from the stews, heavy braises and starchy, earthy vegetables to the grilled and barbequed meats with sweet corn, juicy tomatoes, and vibrant greens. The patios and porches will be opening soon in the café and main dining room. Residents and their guests will be able to eat their favorite meals outside, overlooking our beautiful grounds. The popular new Happy Hour’s will migrate outside to the main dining room patio. Residents will be able to recharge and engage with their community with a refreshing, crafted beverage of their choice, with the warm summer breeze surrounding them. The Vistas has a wonderful patio that residents may inquire about hosting a private party through, fully catered options will, of course, be available. The Vistas patio will also be host to special lunches throughout the summer by our talented dining team for everyone to enjoy. And don’t forget about our unique food truck! The Traveling Plate will be journeying throughout the city, beginning in May, to spread the news about the wonderful offerings provided at Beacon Hill. But most importantly, it will be stationed right outside your doorsteps on Wednesdays in the summer months.  

Spring and Summer bring life back to this community. I encourage you to explore all that Beacon Hill will be offering you to celebrate these impactful months. Try a few new options from our menus. Eat outside, under the rejuvenating sun in a new setting. Take a stroll through the budding gardens and, better yet, enjoys its bounty by participating in our community garden CSA. Follow the Traveling Plate, and its ever-changing, unique menus, throughout Grand Rapids and witness firsthand, the awe that people outside this community have for what is done at Beacon Hill. It is a very exciting time to be here at Beacon Hill. I am honored to help provide wonderful possibilities for residents to live their best lives through fresh opportunities throughout this community.
