Westbound
A Campaign for West End at Beacon Hill
Moving forward is in our DNA.
Beacon Hill is proud to be recognized as a leader in senior living and care, as recently noted in U.S. News & World Report and Newsweek. We are also deeply gratified to enjoy a reputation for providing high-quality service right here in the greater Grand Rapids community.
Yet as lifespans continue to grow longer in the US, and as the science and technology of healthcare advances, we are compelled by our mission of service to evolve and improve our standard of living and care for the benefit of the residents we live to serve
Envisioning a Westbound Beacon Hill.
The Terrarium: a place for growth and communion.
A key element of the West End expansion, and the focus of the Westbound Capital Campaign, will be a large terrarium space, a glass enclosure designed for warmth, greenery, and engagement with the natural world. While a terrarium may bring to mind salamanders and newts, our space will bring the outside world inside, offering an enclosed walkway that bridges the courtyard and provides comfortable seating among lush gardens and warmth. It will also serve as a community gathering space for gardening therapy, meditation, and visiting with friends and family.
We are seeking to raise $3 million in philanthropic support to build this unique and meaningful space for our residents. And we would be honored to have your support in this Westbound campaign.
Bringing our vision to life: West End at Beacon Hill.
Located in our new West End expansion, the Assisted Living building will be designed for both comfort and functionality.
- Common spaces will surround resident suites, functioning as “neighborhoods” that allow residents to more easily interact with each other and the staff.
- Charting stations in each neighborhood will make caring for residents easier and even more responsive.
- A common look will bring comfort to residents transitioning from one level of care to another.
- Larger suites will allow room for mobility supports and/or couples staying together.
- The building will be adaptable, converting from classic Assisted Living to Memory Care depending on need.
- The Charles Van Namen Family Bridge will remain an important conduit between the new building in the West End and our existing Beacon Hill Independent Living residences.
- A new gym will include therapeutic equipment and programming specifically designed for residents in this building.
- Outdoor courtyards and gardens will be beautiful gathering spaces, and many will be designed for therapy.
- A terrarium area will bring the outdoors in, creating a peaceful, plant-filled setting perfect for gardening therapy and the restorative pleasure of a warm sunny day, all year long.
