Raising the Bar in Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing

Beacon Hill at Eastgate is pleased to offer residents the highest standard of both long- and short-term skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services. Many people have commented on the exceptional level of care provided and inquired as to how Beacon Hill consistently delivers it to their patients. We sought out Beacon Hill’s own Director of Nursing, Amanda Daggett, for the answer.

Truly Devoted Amanda Daggett

For six and a half years now, Amanda has trained and directed the nursing staff at Beacon Hill. She began with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree—also in Nursing—from Indiana Wesleyan University. An attentive mother of two young children, Amanda simultaneously leads her nursing staff to increasingly higher levels of resident care. When asked how she manages to do it all so well she replied, “Simple…I love what I do.” Anyone who knows her knows that to be completely true.

Care Rooted in Relationships

“I’m huge on establishing relationships—relationships of staff with residents, residents with residents, staff with families of patients, and of course, staff with staff. It’s essential to build a genuine relationship in order to establish trust with the people you employ and care for,” Amanda explained. “It’s more than a clinical administering of care, you have to get to know people so you can provide them the customized care that benefits them the most.”

People Make the Proficiency

Skilled nursing and rehabilitative care includes a wide range of services for countless needs. Beacon Hill understands that care is only as good as the people who provide it. This is why Amanda explained that she spends so much time educating and training her staff—so that they can deliver the most innovative, quality nursing care available. “We cover so much medically that it’s imperative our nursing staff is skilled and proficient. They must be ready for anything at all times,” Amanda explains. “It’s my job to make sure that they are.”

A Step Above and a Leap Beyond

Amanda ardently seeks to propel nursing well beyond traditional senior care. From her affinity for researching and developing programs geared to delivering five-star customer service, to increasing the overall quality and productivity of nursing by implementing innovative processes, her love for making positive strides in nursing care is everyone’s gain. The industry as a whole is being improved by her contributions.

Setting the Standard for Skilled Nursing

At any moment in their time at Beacon Hill, a resident may be faced with the need for skilled medical care due to an illness, surgery, or other condition that’s temporary or chronic. Beacon Hill’s team of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and expertly trained nursing assistants is able to provide residents with round-the-clock, person-centered short- and long-term skilled care. “Quality care that’s centered in real relationships has proven to make all the difference,” Amanda remarked.

Rehabilitative Services That Reach Higher

The Rehabilitation Care Program at Beacon Hill is an intensive recovery and therapeutic care program that’s personalized for each patient to accommodate their particular needs. Amanda shared how Beacon Hill’s nursing team is fully equipped to help people overcome a multitude of diagnoses using strengthening exercises, hands-on therapy, and rehabilitation equipment. Conditions treated include back pain, trauma, arthritis, joint replacement, and many other post-surgical conditions. Again, whether in-patient or outpatient, all of their rehabilitative care focuses on establishing real relationships to achieve optimum wellness.

Restorative Care

The Restorative Care Program at Beacon Hill works to prevent long-term deficiencies after a surgery or illness. “It’s a program within our Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Programs that’s designed to protect the long-term health, wellness, and mobility of our residents,” Amanda clarified. “The Restorative Care Program works in conjunction with nursing and rehabilitation to help promote the physical and cognitive well-being of our patients, both today and in the future.”

Comforting End of Life Care

Beacon Hill specializes in End of Life Care by anticipating patient needs, managing their pain, and offering spiritual care. “Our nursing staff is so compassionate that we have received countless compliments for our End of Life Care. We’re truly a family here and we care tremendously for every person we encounter. That care extends to our patient’s families also,” Amanda added.
