History of Beacon Hill at Eastgate
Beacon Hill at Eastgate, formerly Michigan Christian Home, located at 1845 Boston, S. E., Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a compassionate and dedicated benevolent nonprofit corporation organized for the purpose of providing a home and nursing facility for the care of Christian aged.

The Michigan Christian Home Association was organized in 1951 at a meeting in the Wealthy Street Baptist Church in Grand Rapids. By 1958 sufficient funds were generated to purchase a beautiful 10-acre parcel of land. The original residential building was completed in 1960 and composed of 60 rooms.

God continued to bless the ministry of MCH as an intimate 17-bed nursing unit was completed in 1967. These nursing services would quickly grow to 29 beds.

During 1977, the need for further expansion and continued quality care would see two building programs completed:

  • An addition to the Residential building featuring a new and inviting dining room, activity center, and enlarged kitchen.
  • A new service of 8 Residential Apartment Homes which would offer the comfort and security of independent living for younger retirees.

15 years later, these apartments would grow to 20 Residential Apartment Homes and the construction of an Assisted Living Center would begin.

Compelled by Psalm 71:9 "Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth." MCH is currently servicing 20 independent apartments, 72 resident units, a 20 unit Assisted Living Center and 29 nursing beds.

Our motto, “Touching Lives, Lifting Spirits” continues to guide us as we seek to offer the highest quality experience in our residential apartment homes , assisted living residences, memory support suites, and skilled nursing care for those who call Beacon Hill at Eastgate home; both now and into the future.
